Before the magical trip to Augusta for The Masters, it’s time for one more stop in Texas (for now) as we head to TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. With the first major of the year next week, many players are taking the week off and preparing, but the winner in San Antonio will punch their ticket to Augusta.

That’s at the forefront for a player like Rickie Fowler, who needs to win in order to make the field at The Masters. But it’s also about getting into great form at the Valero Texas Open as well, which will be the goal for the likes of Tyrrell Hatton, Hideki Matsuyama, Si Woo Kim, Chris Kirk and many others. It should be a fun week with the buzz building for Augusta so let’s dive into everything you need to know for TPC San Antonio with Valero Texas Open tee times, the prize money at stake, how to watch the tournament and more.

The field this week at the Valero Texas Open is headlined by Tyrrell Hatton, Rickie Fowler, Si Woo Kim, past-champion Corey Conners, Davis Riley, Chris Kirk and Hideki Matsuyama. It’s not a designated event and many of the other top players in the world are taking the week off from the PGA Tour to prepare for the first major of 2023 next week.

Since the initial field list, the following players have withdrawn from the field: Stephan Jaeger, Keith Mitchell, Anders Albertson, Robert Streb, Davis Thompson, Brian Gay. Additionally, the following players have now been added to the field: Ricky Barnes, Nicolai Hojgaard, Roberto Diaz, Ryan Gerard, Chandler Phillips, David Carey, Peter Kuest, Austen Truslow, Peter Lansburgh, Satoshi Kodaira, Dylan Wu, Hank Lebioda.

With a relatively light field in terms of stars, the groupings of defending champion J.J. Spaun, Matsuyama, and Fowler, Kirk, Cam Davis, and Tyrrell Hatton, and finally Si Woo Kim, Corey Conners, and Charley Hoffman will likely command Featured Group coverage and plenty of attention.

The Valero Texas Open purse for the 2023 tournament is up over 3% from a year ago and $8.9 million will be handed out at TPC San Antonio this week. The winner’s share of the prie money will be a whopping $1.602 million for coming out on top in this tournament.

Fans can also stream Golf Channel coverage on NBC Sports and the NBC Sports app along with the NBC coverage on NBC Sports and streaming on Peacock as well.
